A successful implementation of Interwell’s Downhole Safety Valve Carrier (IDHSVC) helped ADNOC Offshore solve a well integrity challenge and restore production from a well that was shut in since August 2011, saving rig work over cost of $ 5 Million.
The IDHSVC is a retrofitted Safety Valve system for wells where the existing retrievable valve has failed to perform due to eroded or scaled seal bores. The tool features include:
- Make use of existing No-go profile and lock in place with dogs
- Expanding elements make use of existing hydraulic control line ports
- Valve is mounted underneath IDHSVC
- Run on W/L and retrieved with standard GS pulling tool
- Slips based version under development
- ISO V0 or V1 tested up to 7540 psi at 100C
The following advantages can be achieved by using the IDHSVC:
- Straddles the machined DHSV nipple seal bore utilizing the existing control line port
- Uses a hydrostatic setting tool to apply enough setting force to squeeze the elastomer into deep grooves or pits
- Unique and patented element backup design that moves with the element to ensure a minimal extrusion gap, significantly improving the seal
- Can be customized to fit any nipple profile and DHSV insert
- Easily removable for periodic redressing of DHSV
- Available for high H2S service and can be made using customer specified material
