ADNOC Offshore awarded Consolidated Suppliers, along with its partner Interwell, the contract for supply of Barrier Plugs utilizing Interwell’s unique Glass Disc technology.
This technology can be integrated into tubing strings as part of the completion string or installed below an intervention packer. Removal of the glass disc barrier is achieved without the use of explosives. By cycling the well pressure above the plug a predetermined number of cycles, the glass discs are shattered, leaving a smooth bore for production or intervention. No glass fragments remain when production starts.
The VossTech Plug (VT Plug) provides a barrier while running new completion strings. The VT Plug is then used for pressure integrity test of the tubing prior to hydraulic setting of completion packers. The VT plug enables customers to protect lower zones while finishing the upper completion installation. Remote actuation enables complete removal of the barrier without any further intervention. When used along with a barrier intervention packer, such as the LBP, ME or HPHT, the VT plug provides the customer with an intervention barrier that can be remotely opened by pressure cycling. The barrier packer can then be retrieved at a convenient time.
